10. Gluten Free Bloopers

You know you’re a part of the Gluten Free Club if:

1)    You tell a server that you’re gluten free and they give you a deer-in-the-headlights stare.

2)    You order a gluten free salad, and it arrives with croutons.

3)    You place your gluten free order, and the server finishes by asking, “Would you like bread with that?”

4)    You ask for the gluten free menu and the server says, “I’m sorry, we don’t offer anything free here.”

5)    You tell someone you have celiac disease and they ask if it’s contagious or fatal.

6)    You’re the only one on the grocery store aisle with your smartphone checking ingredients and other synonyms for gluten.

7)    You take your gluten free bread with you to the gym and use the loaves as weights.

8)    You tell someone you’re gluten free and they say, “Yeah, my sister can’t drink milk either.”

9)    You’re talking to your friend about your gluten free diet and they say, “I love bread too much.  I don’t know how you stopped eating it.”  Like it’s a choice?!!

Alas!  We’ve all encountered these picky palates:

1.  I don’t like nuts (Are you nuts?)

2.  I don’t like fruit (Deny natural sugar and energy?)

3.  I don’t like chocolate (Someone else will be more than happy to eat your portion.)

4.  I don’t like cheesecake (Think it’s a cheesy dessert?  We beg to differ.)

5.  I don’t like sugar free (You just need brands you can trust, and then you’ll be fine.)

6.  I don’t like fish (You better make friends with a pectarian.)

7.  I don’t like vegetables (Well, have you tried them stirred into a dip?)

8.  I drink tea, not coffee (We love both.  It’s hard to choose.)

9.  I don’t like dried fruit (You’ll shrivel up like dried fruit if you don’t get your share of vitamins.)
